Upcoming retirements
Identify clients turning 62 soon and draft proactive outreach emails for retirement planning.
I want to proactively reach out to clients as they approach age 62 to discuss retirement planning needs. This workflow identifies clients turning 62 and drafts personalized outreach emails.
Follow these steps:
1. Search my CRM for my clients whose birthdate indicates they will turn 62 years old within the next 30 days.
2. For each client identified, review their CRM record and recent notes to check:
- Whether they've already retired or are still working
- Any retirement goals or target dates previously discussed
- Recent conversations about retirement planning
- Current retirement accounts and planning status
3. For clients who are still working or haven't had a recent retirement planning conversation, draft a personalized email in my draft folder. Follow these rules:
- Keep the tone warm and supportive, not pushy.
- Acknowledge their upcoming birthday milestone - turning 62.
- Reference that 62 is when they become eligible for Social Security benefits and is an important age for retirement planning decisions.
- Mention specific planning topics relevant to age 62 (Social Security timing strategy, retirement timeline, health insurance bridge planning if retiring before 65, retirement account positioning).
- Suggest scheduling time to discuss their retirement timeline and planning needs.
- Make it conversational and focused on helping them prepare.
- Use the following example for inspiration:
<Example>
Hi [First Name],
I see you have a birthday coming up - you'll be turning 62 soon. This is actually an important milestone from a retirement planning perspective, and I wanted to reach out to make sure we're staying ahead of the key decisions you'll need to make.
At 62, you become eligible for early Social Security benefits, though there are important trade-offs to consider. This is also a good time to finalize your thinking on retirement timing and make sure everything is positioned correctly.
I'd love to schedule some time to talk through:
- Your current thinking on retirement timing
- Social Security strategy (when to start benefits and how that impacts your overall plan)
- Health insurance planning if you're considering retiring before 65
- Any adjustments we should make to your retirement accounts
Do you have time in the next few weeks for a planning conversation? I want to make sure you feel prepared and confident as you approach this transition.
Best regards,

4. Create a task for each client to follow up if they don't respond within 2 weeks.
5. Add a note to each client's CRM record documenting that the age 62 retirement planning email was sent and their upcoming birthday date.
6. Send me an email with a summary of all clients turning 62 this month. Include their names, birthday date, and current retirement status if known. This will serve as a notification for me to check my drafts folder to review and send the emails.
