IMAP/SMTP

Connect any mailbox to Quin using IMAP/SMTP credentials. Search emails, manage drafts, send messages, and let Quin handle email follow-ups automatically.

Connect any email account to Quin using IMAP/SMTP — including email providers not natively supported by Quin.

If your email provider isn't directly listed as an integration, IMAP/SMTP lets you connect it using basic credentials. Once connected, Quin can search your inbox, draft and send emails, and manage messages the same way it does with Gmail and Outlook.

Before you begin

You'll need the following from your email provider before starting:

  • Your email address
  • Your password or app password
  • Your IMAP host address
  • Your SMTP host address

If you're unsure where to find these, check your email provider's help documentation or account settings.

How to set it up

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations
  2. Click Add Integration
  3. Select IMAP/SMTP from the list
  4. Enter your credentials:
    • Email — your full email address
    • Password / App password — your account password or an app-specific password if your provider requires one
    • IMAP host — your provider's incoming mail server address
    • SMTP host — your provider's outgoing mail server address
  5. Click Connect to complete the setup

Your IMAP/SMTP integration will now appear as active in your Integrations page.

What to expect

After connecting, Quin can search and read your emails, create and send drafts, and manage messages in your mailbox — including moving messages to folders, marking them read or unread, and flagging or tagging them. Quin will also detect the folders and labels available in your account so it knows where to file things. If you use IMAP labels, Quin supports its own status labels (such as "Quin - Draft a reply" and "Draft ready") to track where it is in processing your emails.

Troubleshooting

Quin can't connect to my account

  • Double-check that your IMAP and SMTP host addresses are correct — these are usually found in your email provider's help center
  • If your provider requires an app password instead of your main password, make sure you're using that
  • Verify that IMAP access is enabled in your email account settings

Emails aren't appearing or updating

  • Confirm the integration is still showing as connected in Settings > Integrations
  • Check that your credentials haven't changed or expired — some providers require you to regenerate app passwords periodically
  • Try disconnecting and reconnecting the integration

Quin isn't drafting or sending emails as expected

  • Confirm your Guidelines include instructions for how Quin should handle email responses
  • Verify your SMTP host address is correct, as this is used specifically for outbound sending
  • Check that your email account has sending permissions enabled
