Affinity
Connect Affinity to Quin to search, create, and update people, companies, opportunities, notes, and reminders right from chat, without leaving Affinity or Quin.
Affinity is a relationship CRM built for tracking people and deals together. Connecting it to Quin lets you search and update Affinity records right from chat, including people, companies, lists, opportunities, notes, and reminders, without opening Affinity.
Before you begin
You need an Affinity account with permission to generate an API key, and an Affinity plan that includes API access. Search and export permissions are also needed for Quin to look up people, companies, and opportunities.
The Affinity connection is account-level. It runs on a single API key for your Quin account, so chat can only see and edit what the key owner can see and edit in Affinity.
How to set it up
- In Affinity, go to Settings > Manage Apps and generate an API key. Affinity's guide to obtaining your API key walks through the steps.
- In Quin, go to Settings > Integrations
- Select Affinity from the list
- Paste the API key and confirm the connection
Once connected, Quin may copy existing Quin contact notes into Affinity, the same way it does for other connected CRMs.
What you can do with Affinity and Quin
- Search, view, create, update, and delete people and companies. Affinity calls companies organizations.
- Search, view, create, update, and delete opportunities. Creating one needs a name and an existing opportunity-type list.
- Search, view, and create lists for people, companies, or opportunities. Quin can't update or delete a list once it exists.
- Search, view, create, update, and delete notes. A note has to attach to a person, company, or opportunity.
- Search, view, and create reminders, each with a due date and exactly one linked person, company, or opportunity. Quin can't update or delete reminders.
- Search and view calls and meetings Affinity has already logged. Quin doesn't create new call or meeting records.
Record links Quin shares in chat open Affinity in a new tab.
What to expect
Ask Quin to find, create, or update Affinity records the way you'd ask a colleague, for example "Find John Smith in Affinity" or "Add a note to John Smith that we discussed the Q3 pipeline." Person searches work best with three or more characters, using a name or email. Because Affinity's sharing rules carry over, Quin only surfaces the lists, notes, and interactions the connected API key's owner can already see.
How it works
Opportunities live on lists. To create one, Quin needs an existing opportunity-type list to add it to, or you can ask Quin to create that list first.
Calls and meetings are read-only. Quin can search and show what Affinity has already captured, but a search for a contact with no logged calls or meetings will come back empty, which is expected.
Notes and reminders need an anchor. A note must attach to a person, company, or opportunity, and a reminder needs exactly one of those plus a due date.
Managing the integration
To disconnect Affinity, go to Settings > Integrations, find Affinity, and click Disconnect. Disconnecting stops Quin from reading or writing Affinity data going forward. Existing records in both systems stay unchanged.
Troubleshooting
Quin can't authenticate with Affinity
- Regenerate the API key in Affinity under Settings > Manage Apps
- Confirm your Affinity user has permission to generate API keys
- Reconnect in Settings > Integrations with the new key
Searches for people, companies, or opportunities come back empty
- Check that your Affinity plan includes API access
- Confirm the connected user has export and list permissions in Affinity
- Try a longer search term, since person searches need three or more characters
Quin can't create an opportunity
- Confirm the target list is an opportunity list, not a person or company list
- Create an opportunity list first if one doesn't exist yet
