On the Beyond the IMO podcast: Why Quin isn't just another AI assistant

Every advisor eventually runs into the same wall: the client relationships are what got them into the business, but the admin work is what eats the week. That's the problem Gabe Caldwell and Breena Fain, two of Quin's co-founders, sat down to talk through with Justin Woodbury on the Beyond the IMO podcast.

Justin's been a Quin user for a while, and he opens the conversation the way most advisors would recognize: years of falling behind on follow-up, notes that never made it into the CRM, and admin work that either doesn't get done or doesn't get done well. From there, the conversation covers what Quin actually does, how it's different from the wave of "AI-powered" tools that showed up almost overnight, and what's coming next.

Why Quin isn't another AI trend product

Gabe and Breena talk about being intentionally slow to add AI into Quin, and why that was the right call. For work involving client data and dollar amounts, accuracy matters more than novelty, so the team has stayed focused on where AI genuinely helps and where it doesn't. The differentiator isn't the AI itself. It's how close Quin can get to what an excellent human assistant would actually do.

What Quin handles day to day

The episode walks through real examples from Justin's own routine: a nightly brief that lands before he leaves the office instead of the next morning, notes and tasks captured automatically during calls, and follow-up meetings scheduled with a Zoom link attached just from a text sent on the drive home. Meeting prep, follow-up drafts, CRM updates, and email triage all come up as the workflows advisors lean on most.

Does Quin replace an assistant, or work alongside one?

Gabe and Breena also address a question that comes up a lot: whether Quin is meant to replace a human assistant or support one. The answer depends on the firm. For some, Quin bridges the gap until they're ready to hire. For others, it takes the repeatable, mechanical work off an existing assistant's plate so they can spend time on the parts of the job that actually require a person.
